Our team of Physiotherapists help people living with physical disability optimise their ability to move. Whether it be movement related to daily mobility, exercise or recreational activity, our Physiotherapists will work with you to optimise your physical function, health and wellbeing.
We have expertise in the management of people living with the effects of Spinal Cord Injury. Some of our staff members have worked in Spinal Injury Units at Royal Perth Hospital and Fiona Stanley Hospital in Perth, Western Australia, and Royal Rehab in Sydney, New South Wales. Members of our team have also been engaged in teaching physiotherapy management of Spinal Cord Injury at the University of Notre Dame Australia, and the University of Sydney. We are also currently participating in research on management of shoulder pain in Spinal Cord Injury. Several members of our team co-authored the publication of an article in the in The Journal of Spinal Cord Medicine titled “Models of care for musculoskeletal shoulder pain in spinal cord injury: A scoping review”.
Whilst our clients are typically linked with one of our therapists as their lead clinician, they may work with other members of our team across their therapy sessions. In addition to our Physiotherapists, we also have Therapy Assistants as part of our team. We understand that a lot of our clients have limitations in when they can participate in therapy for a number of reasons, and our team approach to service provision aims to enable our clients to participate in therapy when it best suits their lifestyle.
Further to this, we collaborate with other Physiotherapists for the management of complex clinical presentations. Dr James Debenham and Dr Matthew Bagg are Physiotherapists working at The University of Notre Dame Australia that currently co-consult with our team on the management of complex musculoskeletal and pain conditions when indicated. We also collaborate with other health professionals in the community with expertise in the management of Spinal Cord Injury such as General Practitioners, Rehabilitation and Pain Physicians, Neurologists, Urology Nurses, Psychologists and Occupational Therapists.
Whilst we predominantly provide Physiotherapy to people living with the effects of Spinal Cord Injury, we have the skills required to provide Physiotherapy to people living with other neurological conditions and physical disability. We accept referrals for people living with other conditions if we think we are the most suitable service provider for your needs. For example, you may live close to our clinic or we might have the most appropriate equipment or services you need. We typically arrange for one of our clinicians to contact you and discuss if we are the best fit for you, and if we are aware of a service more appropriate for your needs, we won’t hesitate to share this information with you so that you can consider your options and make an informed choice.
